It is over!

The „5G for Society” Challenge is now officially done. Congrats to all the winning teams!

After four months we now have our three winning teams, that started with ideas and developed into full grown concepts.

Congratulations to FirstActKit, Heartucate and HyperSpecs

During the last four months, the teams got to work on their ideas and even received firsthand feedback from different experts during out bootcamp event in November.

These three teams will now move onto the six months IMPACT-Phase where they will work together with Samsung and the 5G Lab to develop a Prototype, build a business plan and start the process of founding.

We are super excited for what’s to come and will keep you updated on the Winning Teams journey!

Status Quo

If there is one thing that living in this accelerating world has taught us in the past, it is that speed is everything. The “speed” will soon be raised to a new level with the introduction and use of 5G.

The new 5G mobile communications standard is 20 times faster than 4G: Huge amounts of data can be exchanged in near-real-time. This is the basis for a truly connected world, an Internet of Things, where physical and virtual objects can communicate and exchange information in real-time. 5G has the potential to change our world just like the telephone, television and even the Internet have in the past.

As Jyrki Katainen, Vice-President of the European Commission, recently said: “The digital revolution is picking up speed and we must be ready to exploit the tremendous opportunities it brings!”

The Challenge

The spread of information- and communication technology has enormous potential for accelerating human progress, bridging the digital gap, developing knowledge societies and creating scientific and technological innovations in areas as diverse as medicine, energy, security or community life.

To put this in a nutshell: 5G and its advance have the power to benefit those in need and it is our belief that this should happen from day one!

Together with Samsung, we are looking for creative minds all over Germany who use the advantages of 5G to shape our future.

Based on the Social Development Goals set globally by the United Nations, this challenge focuses on ideas, applications and potential business models that help to solve the existential problems of our society and thus contribute to the achievement of these goals.

The Job

To participate in this challenge, you can use one of the following six tracks to take advantage of new technical possibilities through 5G and impact our society!

  • Environment
  • Education
  • Medical & Health
  • Communities
  • Safety & Prevention
  • Creativity
